Mycoplasma structure

Mycoplasma는 Mollicutes 클래스에 속하며, 이들은 세포벽이 없고 혈장과 같은 형태로 구별됩니다.

Mycoplasma는 세포벽이 없기 때문에 penicillin/streptomycin과 같은 일반적으로 사용되는 항생제에 대해 내성을 갖습니다. 게다가, 작은 크기(~ 100 nm) 때문에 일반적인 0.2 μm filter에 의해 제거되지 않습니다. 

Primary cell을 포함한 모든 유형의 진핵 세포에 대해 전염성이 강하며, 한 개의 세포에 수백 개의 Mycoplasma가 부착될 수 있습니다. 또한 세포 배양에 문제를 일으키며 연구 결과를 왜곡시킬 수 있습니다.

따라서 세포 배양 시 Mycoplasma 관리는 필수입니다.
